Rhassoul, also called ghassoul, is a natural, mineral and volcanic clay found in deposits in the Middle Atlas in Morocco. It is rich in Iron, Potasium, Magnesium, Silicon, Sodium, Pro-vitamin and Trace elements.
This powder has been sold in the Near East since the Middle Ages. It is a natural ingredient typical of oriental tradition, used in beauty for body and hair care. You find it in particular in hammams in the same way as black soap and horsehair gloves. In the East and more precisely in Morocco, rhassoul is offered to the bride and groom.
Ghassoul is a cleansing powder, but which does not contain surfactants and which does not alter the lipoprotective film of the epidermis and hair fiber. It can, therefore, be used as shampoos or mild soaps, particularly recommended for sensitive skin or scalps.
You are probably wondering how a powder can wash your hair? Simply mix the rhassoul with water to form a paste. This cleans through a physical process, absorbing impurities and sebum and disappearing when rinsed.
Preparation
Place the clay powder needed for your treatment, 2 tablespoons are enough for a facial mask.
Add a splash of water.
Mix and add water if necessary to obtain a texture that is neither too liquid nor too solid (as said previously, the same texture as yogurt). The ideal is to mix Rhassoul with floral water, in order to benefit from its virtues.
Application
Apply the paste to the face, body or hair, make sure your skin is clean and damp. The ideal is to exfoliate with black soap before this mask.
Leave the mask to act on your skin for 10 to 15 minutes so that the vitamins and minerals can best penetrate the pores of your skin.
Then rinse with lukewarm water, but don't be surprised if the Rhassoul seems difficult to remove.
Be careful when rinsing: it is preferable to respect the protective film of your skin, not to keep the jet of water from the shower too long and too strongly on the skin, because the limescale can hit your skin.
Run the water over your hair if necessary, then remove the Rhassoul with your hands.
