Asafoetida is a giant fennel-like plant over 4 meters tall. When the resin is extracted, a sort of whitish latex flows out. Like most resins, it hardens directly on contact with air. The hiltite then changes from a pinkish color to an almost red color. You can use this natural resin as incense. Be careful, its smell is very strong and may be considered unpleasant/unpleasant for some. It is also called fetid Ase.
